SAS is among the airlines in Europe that currently operates the most flights. The company currently has more planes in the air than major carriers such as Lufthansa and Air France, according to new figures from Eurocontrol.
SAS has seen traffic figures plummet during the corona pandemic, but from a European perspective, the company is currently operating relatively many flights.
Last week, SAS carried out 243 flights, according to new figures from the European air traffic control organization Eurocontrol. That's more than major companies such as Lufthansa, Air France and British Airways.
SAS's relatively high figures are largely explained by the large domestic traffic in Norway. The size of the Norwegian market in a time of travel restrictions and closed borders also means that Norwegian airline Widerøe was last week the fourth largest airline in Europe in terms of number of trips.
The Turkish market has recovered relatively quickly after the major shutdowns of the spring. Last week, Turkish Airlines was the most active airline in Europe with almost twice as many flights as second-place Ryanair.
SAS shares have been one of the most traded on the Stockholm Stock Exchange recently following the vaccine news in recent weeks. On Monday, the shares fell 7.2 percent after a period of strong gains.
On Thursday, SAS will present its report for the last quarter of the 2019/2020 financial year. So far in the financial year, the number of passenger kilometers has fallen by just over 63.
