Stockholm Central Station was hit by a power outage that knocked out escalators, shops and ticket machines. The outage lasted for about two hours.

According to the electricity network company Ellevio, it was a "serious error" that affected around a hundred customers in the area near Sergels Torg in Stockholm where the central station is located.

The alarm about the power outage came at 12:40 p.m.

”"The electricity supply to the property is not working in the central station. This means that the shops, stores and services in the central hall also do not have any electricity. So they do not have any light and it affects their operations," said Bo Albertsson, press manager at the property owner Jernhusen, early Monday afternoon.

Ellevio sent technicians to the site to troubleshoot. Around 2:30 p.m., electricity at the central station was restored, according to Jernhusen.

It is unclear whether any other nearby businesses were affected.

According to the Swedish Transport Administration's press service, there are no reports that the power outage affected trains. Nor are long-distance buses reportedly affected by the fault.TT
