Ahead of the autumn and winter season, the focus is on long-distance trips to the east. Thailand, South Korea and Japan are the travel destinations that are trending this winter. This is shown by recent sales statistics from travel company Unlimited Travel Group, which specializes in customized travel arrangements all over the world. The demand for unique experiences remains strong and the booking situation for 2025 is a full 24 percent better than the previous year.
– This year is a real holiday Christmas and in combination with a generally high demand for travel, we can see that our booking situation (SEK million) is a full 35 percent higher during the fourth quarter compared to the previous year, which was a record year at the time. At the same time, we see a clear trend that bookings are being made further in advance again. Anyone who wants to be sure of getting away for Christmas or during the winter months should not wait too long, comments Charlotte Blum, CEO of Unlimited Travel Group.
Here are the trips that are trending this fall and winter:
Set jetting is here to stay – Thailand and South Korea
Set jetting is here to stay, a phenomenon we have seen in recent years that involves booking trips to destinations where popular films and TV series were filmed. The trendsetter in recent years has been the HBO series White Lotus, whose filming locations and hotels have increased in demand the following season. Ahead of the autumn and winter, it is clear that Thailand is the clear number one among long-distance sun destinations with a clear increase in trips to Koh Samui and the Four Seasons hotel that was the filming location for the latest season of the series.

South Korea is also a climber on the travel top this winter, another country whose popular culture in the form of film and music has received a lot of attention in the past year.

Japan again
We can't seem to get enough of Japan and the country has topped the lists of the most popular countries to travel to for several years. Many who have been to the country and visited Tokyo and Kyoto are happy to return and want to see other parts and Japan has something to offer for everyone. From magical nature and autumn leaves in fiery colors, to spectacular skiing, vibrant cities and a unique history and culture. Ahead of the autumn and winter season, demand has made the range of group and theme trips to Japan larger than ever at Världens Resor, which is Sweden's largest organizer of round trips to Japan.
Brazil back on top of South America
Brazil is making a comeback this year. A perceived increased political stability in the country but also a favorable cost situation for Swedish travelers, may be two factors in the giant country once again sailing up as number one on the South American continent. The Carnival in Rio is a hot destination this winter where the number of bookings for next year is twice as many compared to this year. The Amazon jungles are also high on the booking list for the winter.

Theme trips focusing on art, architecture and culture
Themed trips focusing on art, architecture and culture are a bubbler on the list with great demand for trips both in Sweden and the Nordic countries, as well as Europe but also the USA and not least Japan. This autumn the focus is on Spain, France and Italy with the Venice Biennale attracting visitors and for the spring the upcoming World Exhibition in Japan.
Cheaper Mauritius beats the Maldives
Mauritius and the island nation of the Maldives have long competed to attract sun-thirsty and paradise-longing sun lovers during the winter months and they are both, as usual, at the top when it comes to popular long-distance trips during the winter months. Since last winter, it is Mauritius that has pulled the furthest in terms of popularity of the two island nations in the Indian Ocean. The slightly lower cost situation combined with the fact that the island also offers the opportunity for city life and culture may be some of the reasons why.
