The airline Air France-KLM has raised just over SEK 24 billion via the rights issue announced at the end of May.
The rights issue raised a total of EUR 2.3 billion, equivalent to SEK 24.4 billion, gross. There was great interest and the issue was oversubscribed by 116 percent, according to a press release.
The French and Dutch states, which control 28.6 and 9.3 percent of the shares respectively, participated fully in the issue and thus retain their ownership stakes. In addition, French shipping giant CMA-CGM came on board as a new major owner with 9 percent of the shares in Air France-KLM.
”The success of our capital injection is strong evidence of the confidence that existing shareholders and new investors have in Air France-KLM’s prospects,” said Benjamin Smith, CEO of Air France-KLM, in a statement.
According to Airfrance-KLM, the majority of the issue proceeds will be used to repay government financial support received during the pandemic, as well as reduce the company's net debt.
