State-owned train operator SJ will replace its ticket booking system in April. In a press release, the company states that a new, industry-leading cloud-based system will be implemented, and that the current sales system, which is 30 years old, will be replaced.
The new system is called S3 Passenger and was developed by Dutch company Sqills. SJ states that there is a clear need for a more modern solution.
”"As CEO, I have chosen to prioritize this project and it feels like an important milestone to now be able to launch the first version of our new ticket booking platform. I believe our customers will appreciate the new benefits," says Monica Lingegård, CEO and President of SJ.
At the same time, SJ is aware that there are risks when launching complex systems, and has therefore carried out thorough testing. The launch will now take place in stages, and the old system remains as a back-up "in case something unforeseen happens".
”"We have learned lessons from previous major system changes and therefore only tickets for a shorter period are being sold in the first stage. We will release tickets for the entire summer at the end of April," says Monica Lingegård.
