A night train travelling from Malmö to Stockholm was forced to turn back in Hässleholm last night.

A large stone had been thrown and hit the locomotive's windscreen.

– Cracks appeared in the windscreen. When the driver reached Hässleholm, he turned around, drove back to Malmö and changed locomotives, says Lina Edström from SJ's press office.

The train was four hours late, but the sleeping passengers didn't notice much until they arrived.

The Swedish Transport Administration has reported the incident to the police.

"It is unfortunate, unnecessary and very sad," says Lina Edström.
