SJ usually releases its train tickets for the Christmas weeks in September. Now the company expects it to be sometime in November, writes Dagens Nyheter.
”"Not being able to release our Christmas tickets until November... It's clear that the Swedish people are wondering what we're doing," SJ CEO Monica Lingegård tells the newspaper.
SJ has had a summer with many cancelled departures due to, among other things, a shortage of personnel. Another factor is that the Swedish Transport Administration has had problems with planning track work, which has made it difficult to give information about when trains can run. The agency announced in August that it will continue to have challenges during the autumn and winter.
SJ does not want to release tickets for departures that they believe may be affected. Right now, train tickets are available until December 10, 2022. It is unclear when tickets for the upcoming period can be released.
”The honest answer is that we don't know exactly when it will be,” says Monica Lingegård.
