SJ's website couldn't cope with everyone who wanted to book trips for the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Despite the company taking measures, the website quickly crashed when the delayed tickets were released on Wednesday night, and the problems were continuing into Thursday.

Beyond the fact that it takes time, many are upset about the prices. According to some comments, prices have doubled while they have unsuccessfully tried to book their ticket.

SJ explains this by stating that travel prices are governed by supply and demand, a system the company has had in place for many years.

The site has become increasingly stable during the afternoon and evening on Wednesday.

– We have limited the number of people who can be on the site at the same time to reduce the load. We will remain like this until we see that it is completely stable and the levels are good, says Lina Edström at SJ's press office at around 9:30 PM.

Around 80 percent of visitors are being allowed onto the site. There is no forecast yet for when the problems can be completely resolved and the site fully reopened. However, a new assessment of the situation will be made on Thursday morning.

– Then we will look at whether we can return to normal. The majority are coming in and we see that purchases are being made all the time, says Lina Edström.
