SkiStar has ambitious climate goals and will halve its emissions by 50 % and be climate neutral by 2030. As part of the initiative, SkiStar wants to focus on littering in the mountains adjacent to the facilities both summer and winter. SkiStar is therefore collaborating with Keep Sweden Clean and Keep Norway Clean. The ”Keep the Mountains Clean” initiative will be implemented throughout May together with guests, children, adults and residents at SkiStar’s destinations.
To raise awareness of the problem of littering, SkiStar is taking the initiative for a clean-up month and inviting everyone who wants to contribute to a clean and sustainable mountain environment. Throughout May, children and schoolchildren at SkiStar's destinations, guests and staff will pick up litter, thereby making the problem visible while making it possible to make an effort together with others.
– Keep Sweden Clean is an important partner for us in this project. They have extensive experience in litter picking and highlighting how big the problem is in our society. We hope and believe that together we can create a great commitment with Keep the Mountains Clean, and that more people will become aware that littering in nature, regardless of when and where, is a problem that concerns us all, says SkiStar's sustainability manager Fanny Sjödin.
Litter is one of the biggest societal problems of our time. Litter harms animals and nature, destroys the oceans, makes cities unsafe and costs society a lot of money – completely unnecessarily. Keep Sweden Clean works to stop littering. All initiatives from HSR aim to ensure that no one litters Sweden through everything from campaigns to long-term projects, where Keep the Mountains Clean is one such measure.

Keep the mountain clean
An initiative from SkiStar, which together with Håll Sverige Rent and Hold Norge Rent will focus on the challenge of littering in nature and through a month dedicated to clearing the mountains, will make visible what a big problem it is. Everyone who stays in SkiStar's facilities in summer and winter, and enjoys being out in the mountains and nature all year round, should also take into account that nature is for everyone. We will give everyone the same good conditions to enjoy and have a good time in the mountains, the animals that live there and the people who travel and move there.
