After a year as reception manager, Sofie Hellsing is taking a step towards new challenges and joining as hotel manager at Quality Hotel The Mill in Malmö.
Sofie Hellsing made her hotel debut in early 2019 when she joined as reception manager for the new opening of Quality Hotel The Mill. With a background as a circus performer, in sales and at the travel company Ving, Sofie was well prepared for the adventure that opening a new hotel entails. Sofie grew up in Ludvika, Dalarna, where she developed an early interest in circus and acrobatics.
“Thanks to the circus, I have learned so much. For example, the importance of trusting your team, how crucial it is to be prepared before you go on stage and that 'practice makes perfect'. I have taken that with me to the hotel.”", says Sofie Hellsing.
During her year as reception manager, Sofie has coached her team, who have achieved fantastic results in both guest and employee satisfaction.
“I have been part of the journey that Quality Hotel The Mill has had since day one and have seen the fantastic development that we have gone through this year. It is with extra heart that I enter my new role because I truly believe in this hotel and look forward to continuing to coach us going forward.”", says Sophie.
The reception team, led by Sofie, has exceeded all goals during its first year. Of all Quality Hotels in Sweden, Norway and Denmark, they received the highest score in guests' assessment of reception service.
“Sofie has done an incredibly good job building the team at reception and I am so happy with what she has achieved there. We have now been open for a year and need to move up to the next level, for me it is obvious that Sofie will be at the centre of that.”, says Burim Sumiq, Hotel Director at Quality Hotel The Mill.
As hotel manager, Sofie wants to inspire a sustainable way of working in the organization, where both the health of employees and a consistent environmental mindset are cornerstones. Quality Hotel aims to be the Best Workplace in the Nordics, and this is naturally what drives the competitive Sofie.
“Balance is one of my guiding principles in life and will contribute to making us an even better workplace by encouraging balance on all levels. Everything from balance between work and leisure, between fun and seriousness, to balance between training and recovery. There is no doubt that the sense of balance stems from years of circus training.”, concludes Sofie.
