SriLankan Airlines strengthens its presence in the Maldives through a new interline agreement with Maldivian airline Maldivian (Island Aviation Services), providing travelers with more convenient access to 17 domestic destinations in the archipelago via a single ticket.

The agreement means that passengers can book their entire journey – including flights with both airlines – on a single electronic ticket. The solution applies to travel via both Velana International Airport in Malé and Gan International Airport on Gan Island.

By combining SriLankan Airlines' international network with Maldivian's extensive domestic services, it will be easier to reach both popular holiday islands and more remote destinations in the Maldives. The partnership is expected to benefit both leisure and business travelers.

SriLankan Airlines currently operates three daily flights to Malé and two weekly flights to Gan, providing good connectivity to the airline's international network.

“Our partnership with Maldivian is an important milestone in strengthening our regional presence and making travel easier for our customers. By connecting our global network with Maldivian’s domestic services, we open up more opportunities to discover the Maldives,” said Dimuthu Tennakoon, Commercial Head at SriLankan Airlines.

Nayomi Tennakoon, responsible for the Maldives, also emphasizes that the agreement gives travelers the opportunity to reach a large number of destinations in the archipelago through a coherent travel booking.

SriLankan Airlines flies to 33 own destinations and offers, including codeshares, connections to 130 destinations in 63 countries. The company operates an Airbus fleet consisting of A330-200, A330-300, A320 and A321 aircraft.
