The national weather service in the Netherlands has issued a red warning - the highest level. Train and bus services have also been affected and people are being urged to avoid driving. Several trees have been blown down across roads and buildings have been damaged.
The wind is also causing problems in neighboring Belgium. In Grez-Doiceau, twenty kilometers southeast of Brussels, a woman died on Thursday morning when a tree fell on her car, reports the newspaper Le Soir.
