Swedish Ryanair pilots are announcing a 24-hour strike on Friday, August 10, writes Expressen.
Disagreement between the union, the Swedish Pilots' Association (SPF), and the airline regarding collective bargaining negotiations is behind the action.
– We naturally hope that this means that Ryanair will come to the negotiating table. If it does not have any effect, we will have to consider further measures, SPF chairman Martin Lindgren tells the newspaper.
The notice covers around 80 percent of Ryanair's pilots in Sweden, just over 40 members. But it is not certain that a strike will affect travelers.
– There are about 15 to 20 departures from Sweden on a regular Friday, as far as I know. And now Ryanair has been quite good at moving pilots from other countries to strike-hit areas. It is likely that they are trying to do the same here, says Martin Lindgren to Expressen.
Attempts to reach a collective agreement for Ryanair's pilots have been ongoing since just before Christmas.
