Train passengers have suffered many delays during the summer. Now, Minister of Infrastructure Tomas Eneroth (S) is calling on the Swedish Transport Administration and train operators, reports Swedish Radio Echo.

”"Of course, it is not acceptable if the Swedish Transport Administration cannot cope with the conditions in its planning or if the train operators cannot cope with the staffing," Eneroth tells Ekot.

The Swedish Transport Administration is still having problems with its new train timetable planning system. Combined with an unusually large amount of track work, this means that the problems will continue this autumn.

The Swedish Transport Administration is supposed to provide a plan for how trains will run during track work 18 weeks in advance. Currently, they only have a lead time of two to five weeks, which in turn affects the train companies' ability to sell tickets for their journeys.

”"This is of course something we are working intensively to improve," says Mikael Eriksson, Marketing Manager at the Swedish Transport Administration, to the radio.

He emphasizes that the majority of train departures are not affected by track work and that they expect to catch up with the planning by the end of the year.
