Aeroflot Group continues to grow in 2017

Aeroflot PJSC (Moscow Exchange ticker: AFLT) today announces operating results for Aeroflot Group (”the Group”) and Aeroflot Russian Airlines (”the Company”) for December and the twelve months of 2017.

January-December 2017 Operational Highlights

Over the twelve months of 2017, the Aeroflot Group carried 50.1 million passengers, an increase of 15.4% compared with the previous year. Aeroflot carried 32.8 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 13.3 per cent.

The Group’s and the company’s RPK increased by 16.2% and 11.0% respectively compared with the previous year. ASKs increased by 14.2% compared with the previous year for the Aeroflot Group and by 10.3% for Aeroflot Airlines.

The passenger load factor rose by 1.4 percentage points year-on-year to 82.8% for the Group and by 0.5 percentage points year-on-year to 81.8% for the company.

December 2017 Operational Highlights

In December 2017, the Aeroflot Group carried 3.8 million passengers, an increase of 9.6% compared with the previous year. Aeroflot carried 2.6 million passengers, an increase of 8.7 per cent year-on-year.

The Group’s and the company’s RPK increased by 9.1% and 7.8% respectively year-on-year. ASKs increased by 7.3% year-on-year for the Aeroflot Group and by 7.9% for Aeroflot Airlines.

On domestic routes, the Group’s passenger numbers and RPK increased by 8.5% and 7.5% respectively compared with the previous year. ASK increased by 2.8% year-on-year. Business passengers and RPK on domestic routes increased by 8.8% and 6.3% respectively compared with the previous year. ASK increased by 5.3%.

In December 2017, the number of passengers on the Group’s international routes increased by 11.0% compared with the corresponding period the previous year. RPK increased by 10.2%, whilst capacity increased by 10.2%.

The number of passengers carried by Aeroflot on international routes increased by 8.7%. RPK rose by 8.5% and accounted for 9.0%. Growth in the international segment is driven by stable demand linked to a stronger rouble, increased flight frequencies and the launch of flights to new international destinations, as well as the development of Rossiya’s partnerships with tour operators and Pobeda’s international route network.
The passenger load factor increased by 1.3 percentage points year-on-year to 78.6% for the Group. For the company, the cabin factor fell by 0.1 percentage points year-on-year to 77.1%.
