Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian has stated that the massive Crowdstrike-triggered IT outage earlier in July, which stranded thousands of customers, will cost the company around $500 million.

CNBC reports this on Wednesday.

$500 million corresponds to almost 5.4 billion Swedish kronor in costs for the company.

During Tuesday trading, Crowdstrike shares plunged by nearly 10 percent, to a new annual low after reports that Delta intends to seek damages from Crowdstrike and Microsoft.

Delta has been forced to handle over 176,000 compensation or refund requests after nearly 7,000 flights were forced to be canceled.
