Freight and ticket prices for ferry traffic to and from Gotland have increased. To ease the situation, the government is proposing financial support of SEK 33 million for 2023 for ferry traffic to and from Gotland.
The government's proposal, which is included in the autumn amending budget, for financial support requires rapid approval under EU state aid regulations, according to a press release from the government.
”"Increased freight and ticket prices for ferry traffic to and from Gotland have negatively affected the economic situation for Gotland's permanent residents. The proposed support provides better conditions to limit or avoid further price increases for ferry passengers," says Minister of Infrastructure and Housing Andreas Carlson.
First North-listed Gotlandsbolaget is currently responsible for ferry traffic to and from Gotland. The procurement agreement expires in 2027 and ahead of that, EQT-owned Danish shipping company Molslinjen has announced that they want to take over the mission.
