The holidays are just around the corner for many, and the longing for lazy days in the sun is creeping in. Many of us agree that the Swedish summer is something special – but it is also unpredictable. For those who don't have a trip booked yet but want a guaranteed sun on their holiday days, travel agency Ticket has listed its best tips for finding a trip at the best price possible.

– The pressure to travel continues to be high! Many people have both the long winter and last year's unstable summer fresh in their minds, and are therefore choosing to sun-protect their holiday by booking a trip. For those who haven't booked yet, there are some last-minute trips still available – and some smart tips to take with you to find the most wallet-friendly trip, says Katja Stellmo, Product Manager at Ticket

Waiting until the last minute has in the past been a good way to find the cheapest trips. However, after the pandemic, things look different, as the demand for trips is high – versus the supply from charter providers who, since the pandemic, have not yet fully matched demand. However, there are smart ways to get the price down.

– If you are out at the last minute, opt for charter flights rather than regular flights. After all, there are still bargains to be had on remaining trips if you can be flexible with timing and destination. The weather always determines prices, but not just the weather at the destination. Take the opportunity to book your trip on a really sunny day back home in Sweden – then fewer people will book and instead enjoy the weather, and prices will therefore go down. If you can stretch your vacation until after school starts in August, you will also have many thousands of kronor to save there, advises Katja Stellmo.

Best tips for finding cheaper travel:

• Flexibility! Be flexible with your departure time and travel day. Be prepared to be able to leave quickly.
• Discover new places. Be open to new destinations and broaden your preferences. Experience the charm of experiencing a completely new destination. Look beyond the most classic charter destinations, and take a look at more hidden gems. Albania, Turkey and Sopot in Poland are examples of destinations that are both sun-safe and affordable.
• Wait until school starts. If you can wait to travel until school starts – do it. Prices drop significantly from the end of August.
• Keep an eye on the weather report. If it's sunny in Sweden at the moment, travel prices will drop. Don't wait until bad weather rolls in - then more people than you will want to book a trip.
