Tourism contributes to the local community in the form of increased employment, important tax revenues and making a place feel attractive and welcoming. It can also be a valuable tool in strategic community building. Visit Trelleborg works together with the tourism industry to ensure that tourism contributes to a sustainable future. This year's Palme d'Or finalists have been selected because they represent part of that journey.
Every year, Visit Trelleborg awards an award to a tourism industry player who makes Trelleborg a better place to visit. The spotlight is intended to shine a little extra light on those players who have done something special to contribute to sustainable social development. It could be someone who strives to attract visitors all year round or who has dared to make an investment that has left an impression not only in Trelleborg, but all of Skåne. It could also be someone who is a star at collaboration and generously offers himself and his expertise, thereby contributing to the prosperity of more people.
– In a sustainable and attractive destination, everyone must take responsibility for contributing positively to Trelleborg's future. I see great potential in using tourism as a tool in the large community development projects that will characterize our municipality for a long time to come, says Erik Lundström, Chairman of Visit Trelleborg.
This year, the public, consisting of both local Trelleborg residents and visitors to the destination, nominated their favorite companies for the Golden Palm. From the 51 nominated companies, a jury, consisting of previous winners and representatives from Visit Trelleborg, then selected three finalists.
The finalists for this year's Palme d'Or are:
- Restaurant Silhouette
- Palm Tree Hotel
- Slättarps Farm
– In these three actors we see exactly what we wish to reward. Through their creativity and willingness to collaborate, they contribute to a smart and sustainable destination that is attractive to both visitors and us Trelleborg residents, states Erik Lundström.
This year's winner of the Palme d'Or will be announced on Billboard Sunday, November 27.
