Ticket company Ticketmaster's UK office discovered malware on Saturday that may have led to customers' personal data and payment information being accessed by an "unknown third party".

The company has now emailed customers who may have been affected.
”"We are contacting you because you purchased, or attempted to purchase, tickets sometime between September 2017 and June 23, 2018. While we have no evidence to suggest that your personal data has been compromised, we are notifying you now as a precaution," Ticketmaster wrote in an email to selected customers.

The software was reportedly discovered on one of the company's customer support agents, an external third-party vendor. This led to the product being disabled on all Ticketmaster websites.

All customers who have received the message are urged to reset their passwords and review their account statements - in case they have been the victim of fraud.

”"If you are concerned or notice any suspicious activity on your account, you should contact your bank and/or credit card company," the company writes in the email.
