Uniper has signed a letter of intent with the municipality of Sollefteå to, together with Sasol ecoFT, further explore the possibilities of establishing a unique industrial project for sustainable aviation fuel in Långsele, Sollefteå. The project, which is called SkyFuelH2, aims to establish the first production facility of its kind to contribute to the transformation of the aviation industry.
– Sweden is at the forefront of the green and digital transformation of business and industry, which creates new jobs with fair conditions throughout Sweden. SkyFuelH2 is another example of how the transformation can create jobs and faith in the future, this is an important step for Långsele, Sollefteå, Sweden and our aviation industry, says Minister of Industry Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson.
In a new collaboration with Sasol ecoFT, a world leader in a technology called Fischer-Tropsch, the ambition is to use the technology on an industrial scale for the first time to produce sustainable aviation fuel. The fuel is produced by combining carbon from biomass and renewable hydrogen.

Contributing to the choice of Långsele and Sollefteå for SkyFuelH2 are the municipality's major growth ambitions, the area's access to renewable electricity and suitable land areas, and the region's long industrial history.
With the declaration of intent, work is now continuing together with Sollefteå Municipality to explore the possibilities of establishing SkyFuelH2.
