The American airlines Delta Airlines, United Airlines and Southwest Airlines are raising their forecasts for the first quarter of this year.
For Delta Airlines, revenue is now expected to be around 78 percent of pre-pandemic levels, compared to a previous forecast of 72-76 percent.
Capacity is expected to be around 83 percent, which is, however, in the lower range of the previous forecast of 83–85 percent.
As before, a pre-tax loss is expected for the quarter, but a profit is expected in March due to higher revenues offsetting higher fuel prices.
United Airlines now expects the decline in operating revenue to be in the lower range of the previously communicated forecast of a decline of 20–25 percent.
Southwest Airlines now forecasts that operating revenues will decrease 8-10 percent in the first quarter compared to 2019. The previous assessment was a decline of 10-15 percent compared to 2019 levels.
