The sea has a proven positive effect on people's mental health and can make us less stressed.

Viking Line has been sailing the seas for nearly six decades and is now launching Havspausen – a micro-break app for your computer that allows users to spend a moment at sea during their workday. During the break, views of archipelago islets, open sea, and sunsets over the horizon are displayed.

Throughout history, people have used the sea as a place for recreation, relaxation, and recovery. However, not everyone has the opportunity to spend time at sea when they need it most, especially during working hours. Therefore, Viking Line has created Havspausen – a micro-break app for your computer that allows you to disconnect from the demands and obligations of the outside world for a while. During the break, moving images of the sea views from Viking Line ships are shown, while the user is encouraged to focus on their breathing. Each break lasts one minute and features different views.

– Natural environments and sea views have a positive impact on people's well-being in terms of, for example, mood, concentration and stress. In fact, research shows that even images and sounds from natural environments can make us less stressed. In today's society, there are very many impressions, especially in urban environments, which means we have a need to encounter nature to find new focus, says Cecilia Stenfors, Doctor of Psychology and researcher.
