The local transport company Kiruna Buss also offers an alternative solution with a daily bus between Kiruna and Narvik.

The decision not to start passenger traffic/night train on the route between Abisko-Narvik has been taken due to safety reasons as the risk of subsequent derailments and downtime is assessed as high.
