Low-cost airline Wizz Air predicts "excellent" travel demand during the summer and expects flights to increase by 40 percent during the period July to September compared to 2019, writes the Financial Times.
However, the company also predicts that there will be a loss during the current quarter as disruptions at airports and low economic growth affect the industry's recovery from the pandemic.
”The aviation industry remains exposed to issues such as disruptions in air traffic control and continued operational problems at airports, which come on top of a volatile macro environment,” said the company’s CEO Jozsef Varadi.
Airports in large parts of Europe have, just like here in Sweden, had problems with staffing after the pandemic. For Wizz Air, this has meant that some flights have been canceled, but the company is said to have not been hit as hard as domestic competitors Easyjet and British Airways.
