Was going to talk about good railways – took the plane

Better rail connections between western Sweden, Norway and Germany.

That is the topic of a meeting in Hamburg this week. As if to demonstrate the need, most of the delegates from the Västra Götaland region have flown to the meeting, reports P4 Gothenburg.

This prompted pensioner Roland Svensson to point out that a Swedish delegate had shown that it was possible to take the train to the gathering.

– At the time I thought it was funny because if one could ride a train, everyone could, he tells the radio station.

Kristina Jonäng (C), chairwoman of the region's development committee, flew to Hamburg. She counters that the rail traveler took the train only to test the connections.

– It's a trade-off, but sometimes you have to fly when it's abroad for time reasons, she tells P4 Gothenburg.
