The 2026 edition of Michelin Guide Nordic Countries was presented on 1 June at a gala in Tivoli in Copenhagen. One of the biggest Swedish news stories was that the newly opened Stockholm restaurant Adam Albin was awarded a Michelin star just two months after opening. The restaurant also received a special award “Opening of the Year 2026”.
Sweden simultaneously retains its only three-star restaurant, Frantzén in Stockholm, which remains one of the absolute top gastronomic destinations in the Nordics.

Meanwhile, the Michelin Guide is undergoing changes internationally. Michelin recently announced that the so-called Green Star for sustainability work will be phased out and replaced by a new concept called Mindful Voices, which will highlight inspiring sustainability initiatives within gastronomy and the hospitality industry.

Four MICHELIN Special Awards will be presented
The MICHELIN Special Awards are presented to outstanding individuals who, thanks to their passion and high level of expertise, can make a restaurant experience unforgettable.
This year's winner is:
MICHELIN Service Award – Carl Frosterud at AIRA in Stockholm
Carl Frosterud, CEO and Wine Director of the two-Michelin-starred AIRA, grew up in a small town famous for its folk music festival and attended music school with dreams of becoming a performer. While he may not play an instrument, he's certainly at the centre of the stage each night, keeping the audience captivated. After discovering his passion for wine and hospitality at some well-known restaurants, he now heads up operations at AIRA, where he makes all guests feel comfortable and encourages trust and responsibility within all team members.
MICHELIN Opening of the Year Award – Adam Dahlberg and Albin Wessman Adam Albin in Stockholm
After closing their previous restaurant at the end of January 2026, chefs Adam Dahlberg and Albin Wessman reopened at this new location in April 2026. The beautiful granite building next to the opera house offers a fitting space for a luxurious dining experience, where the evening begins in their seductive wood-panelled lounge, among other things, with a collection of art loaned by gallerist Magnus Karlsson hanging on the walls. An impressive wine cellar catches the eye in the spacious dining room, along with the open kitchen where guests can watch the high-quality dishes being prepared over an open fire.
MICHELIN Mécénat (Young talent) Award – Andreas Ring Kjeldsholm Hansen from Krog's Fish Restaurant in Copenhagen, Denmark
Chef Andreas Ring Kjeldsholm Hansen took on a great challenge when, in May 2026, he took over the kitchens of Copenhagen's most famous seafood restaurant. It is located on the site of the city's former fish market and has been a restaurant since 1910, so he felt a duty to preserve over a century of traditions while also adapting the restaurant to today's world. He has taken on this task perfectly, adding his own culinary signature to an appealing seafood menu.
MICHELIN Sommelier Award – Rudimentary Belardi Galleon at Maaemo in Oslo, Norway
Rudimante Belardi Galeone was born in Tuscany and studied art history before working in several Italian restaurants and hotels. In 2022, she moved to Oslo to join the team at the three-Michelin-starred restaurant Maaemo, where she was promoted to Wine Director two years later. Her passionate approach to wine means she generously shares her time at every table, offering detailed advice on both the extensive wine list – which is strong on Champagne and exclusive wines – and non-alcoholic pairings. Although the choice of wine may be one of the oldest traditions in the restaurant industry, she helps to bring a youthful new perspective to the entire process.
