30,000 companies risk bankruptcy if they are shut down for a month. This is according to the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, which has made calculations based on financial statements from almost a quarter of a million companies.
“A scenario where a third of companies stand still until the autumn would mean that unemployment increases by between 300,000 and 350,000 people just through bankruptcies,” writes Jan-Olof Jacke, CEO of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, on Dagens Nyheter's debate page.
To avoid this, he wants to see an additional support package of 200 billion kronor from the government. The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise wants, among other things, to see reduced interest rates and that companies do not have to pay any wages at all during short-term layoffs.
