The helicopter company Jämtlands Flyg in Östersund is winding down its operations after 65 years. The company's 12 employees have been given notice.
– We are having difficulty continuing and conducting flight operations due to a lack of profitability that we have struggled with for a few years. It comes from a larger regulatory framework which has meant increased demands on organization and costs, says Sara Ahlin Grinde, CEO and co-owner of Jämtlands Flyg.
She says that it was a difficult decision to make, not least because it is a family business.
– It was my grandfather and grandmother who started this 65 years ago. Then these fantastic employees, it's so sad to be forced to lay them off, she says.
Union negotiations and discussions with customers are now pending. It is currently not decided when Jämtlands Flyg will make its last flight.
