Liseberg amusement park made a huge loss in the pandemic year of 2020. The negative result was more than half a billion, or more precisely 552 million kronor.

Almost 97 percent of sales disappeared when the park was never able to open, due to restrictions to prevent the spread of infection. Liseberg's campsite in eastern Gothenburg, however, remained open.

The result means that the municipally owned group's equity fell from just under SEK 1.3 billion to SEK 843 million.

At the same time, Liseberg has, in stages, given notice of layoffs for approximately 120 employees. Almost all staff have been laid off since last spring.

Now there are hopes for new guidelines from the authorities in 2021.

“The new regulations will likely enable a responsible opening of Liseberg later this year,” says CEO Andreas Andersen in a press release.
