Several trade unions representing airport workers in Paris are calling for a strike in the week leading up to the upcoming Olympic Games in France.

The reason is a dispute over salary bonuses in connection with the Olympic Games.

Trade unions believe that bonuses should be paid out to all staff, not just certain groups.

The airports concerned are Charles de Gaulle and Orly, which will receive the majority of foreign visitors during the Olympics. The strike has been called for 17 July, nine days before the sporting events begin.

The Games will begin with an opening ceremony in Paris on July 26. The troops of the participating nations will then travel by boat along the River Seine and the Olympic flame will be lit.

The Summer Games are on until 11 August inclusive.
