Havila Voyages is launching a new digital service that provides travelers with individual weather forecasts and packing lists for their trip along the Norwegian coast between Bergen and Kirkenes.

By entering their travel details, guests can see what weather is expected at each of the coastal route's 34 ports, tailored to the day and time the ship is at each destination.

“The challenge for many of our guests is that they should not just pack for one destination. While warm and sunny weather may prevail in the southern part of the route, further north it can be colder and more winter-like,” says Mette Øyen, Chief Marketing Director at Havila Voyages.

Forecasts directly from the Norwegian MET

Weather information is retrieved in real time from Norwegian Meteorological Institute, MET. For the first nine days of the voyage, detailed forecasts are shown for the time the ship is in each port.

For days 10–21, a longer-term forecast is presented instead, including temperature ranges and expected precipitation.

The service shows the weather both on a map of the route and in a detailed list tailored to the individual trip.

The packing list is adapted to the trip

Based on the trip and weather information, a interactive personal packing list where the traveler can check off what to bring.

Depending on the time of year and conditions, recommendations may include sunscreen and a sleeping mask under the midnight sun, or underwear, gloves and a power bank for those planning to photograph the northern lights from the ship's deck.

– Our goal is for our guests to take home as many wonderful memories from their trip as possible. And part of the charm of our beautiful coast up here is of course also our typical Norwegian weather, says Mette Øyen.
