Hurricane Michael is dumping rain over the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico and eastern Cuba, and has its sights set on Florida.
And out in the Atlantic, fellow stormtrooper Leslie is gathering strength.
Right now, Michael is a number one on the five-point hurricane scale, but by Wednesday Swedish time it is feared to have strengthened to a number three.
Michael has already claimed at least a dozen lives in Central America. Oil platforms have been evacuated in the Gulf of Mexico, and oil and gas production has been curtailed.
The eye of the storm will move into the southeastern United States on Tuesday evening local time. It will then continue northeast – including areas in North and South Carolina that were hit by Hurricane Florence in September.
Leslie will strengthen into a hurricane this week, threatening the Azores and Madeira. It will then move north of the Canary Islands, and could reach mainland Portugal in a weakened state by the weekend.
