Liseberg amusement park in Gothenburg opens in the spring.
”"We will open on May 1. We have no choice," says the park's CEO Andreas Andersen to P4 Gothenburg.
The park closed after Christmas 2019 and has remained closed ever since. In 2020, the park made a loss of over half a billion kronor.
At the same time, Liseberg's CEO, along with other Swedish amusement parks, is criticizing the Public Health Agency's requirement of 20 square meters of space per visitor. Andreas Andersen notes that with these restrictions, it costs more to stay open than to keep it closed.
”"The European parks were open in 2020 with an industry standard of between four and ten square meters per guest. Our assessment is that 20 square meters per guest is completely unsupported by the available facts," Andreas Andersen writes in a press release.
