After four successful years as CEO of Visit Trelleborg, Maarja Edman will leave her position on December 31, 2024. During her time, Maarja has shown a true ability to engage and inspire, and has placed the role of the tourism industry in social development at the center. Her leadership has contributed to the adoption of a specific tourism strategy by the City Council in 2023, and to the business taking the lead in strengthening Trelleborg's attractiveness.

Maarja Edman comments: ”"I have had fantastic years at Visit Trelleborg. The assignment has always felt stimulating and significant for the development of our municipality, while at the same time being both challenging and incredibly fun. The operations and organization have undergone positive changes and the employees' curiosity and commitment along the way have been invaluable. My final focus will be to ensure that at the end of the year I can proudly hand over a stable and well-functioning operation to my future successor."”

Visit Trelleborg's board, led by Chairman Erik Lundström, expresses its gratitude and appreciation: ”"With both courage and drive, as well as a big heart for the qualities of both the city and the countryside, Maarja has managed to arouse joy and commitment to Visit Trelleborg's mission. Her ability to create strong partnerships with the local business community and important partners both within and outside the municipality has been crucial. Together with the tourism industry, we have achieved three tourism records in 2021, 2022 and 2023 and received several awards under her leadership. We are grateful for her efforts and know that her heart continues to beat warmly for our part of the country."”

The organizational form of the business has been under investigation and last week it was decided that it will continue to be run as a company. This decision is seen as very positive and creates a good opportunity for the board and Maarja Edman to jointly prepare for the arrival of a new CEO. During the autumn, the work will focus on drafting an agreement between Visit Trelleborg and the municipality of Trelleborg that regulates which services the municipality will purchase from the company in the future. This will give the current CEO the opportunity to implement the necessary operational adjustments and ensure a smooth transition before a new leader takes over.

The recruitment of a new CEO will begin after the holidays, and the board looks forward to welcoming a new leader to the company at the turn of the year.
