Mats Johannesson becomes new President and CEO of Swedavia

Swedavia's board of directors has appointed Mats Johannesson as the new CEO of Swedavia. Mats is thus leaving his role as CEO of the care company Team Olivia.

Mats Johannesson holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology and was previously CEO of the public transport company MTR Express. He has also held several management roles within logistics and transport.

– We are very pleased to welcome Mats Johannesson as the new CEO. I am convinced that Mats' committed and open leadership will suit Swedavia very well. He has broad experience in leading large organizations and operations with a focus on results, quality, and not least communication, says Ulrika Francke, Chairwoman of the Board of Swedavia.

– Swedavia's airports play a central role in society both by connecting us as a country and with the rest of the world. This contributes to both growth and international competitiveness. It is also an industry that is in constant motion and change. I look forward to getting to know the company and together continuing to develop Swedavia with customer focus, courage and clarity, says Mats Johannesson.   

Mats Johannesson will take up his position as President and CEO no later than the beginning of May 2026. Jonas Abrahamsson will remain as CEO no later than the end of February 2026.
