Norwegian airline Norwegian reports lower-than-expected second-quarter results, but reports strong growth. CEO Geir Karlsen writes in the report that ”summer 2023 will be one of the strongest in Norwegian’s history.”.
Norwegian delivered an operating profit of 651 million Norwegian kronor in the second quarter, according to the company's latest interim report. Analysts had expected a profit of 726 million SEK, according to estimates that the company itself has collected. During the same period last year, the profit was 1.36 billion SEK, but it was affected by one-time effects.
Sales during the second quarter were SEK 6.87 billion, which was just above the expected SEK 6.74 billion. The figure is a sharp increase from the comparison quarter's SEK 4.87 billion.

At the end of the quarter, Norwegian had a fleet of 81 aircraft. In the second quarter, the company carried 5.6 million passengers compared to 5.0 million passengers in the second quarter of 2022.
