SAS is fined in Denmark – after Covid

The airline SAS has been fined 1 million Danish kronor. This after the Danish Consumer Ombudsman took the company to court for misleading information during the corona pandemic, writes The Stock Exchange.

Many customers interpreted the email as a cancellation and cancelled their booking. However, when the trip was not actually cancelled, SAS only refunded a fraction of the price, corresponding to taxes and fees. 

During the trial, SAS stated that it had given customers better terms than it had to, writes Børsen. 

The Copenhagen District Court does not share that view and sentences SAS to pay 1 million Danish kronor, approximately 1.5 million Swedish kronor, in fines. 

The Consumer Ombudsman had requested a fine of 1.5 million Danish kroner.'’
