Stena Line has signed a 20-year agreement to continue ferry services from the terminal in Ventspils, Latvia, according to a press release.
The agreement is described as important in the company's continued focus on the Baltic Sea and the Nynäshamn-Ventspils route. This year, two new large vessels will be put into service on the route, which will increase capacity, among other things.
”"The existing ships on the two Latvian lines will be replaced by larger and more modern ferries. On Nynäshamn-Ventspils, the extended ships Stena Scandica and Stena Baltica are expected during the year. The new ferries will increase freight capacity by 30 percent on the line and with the modern and newly renovated ships, Stena Line will simultaneously take up the fight for passenger traffic on the Baltic Sea," it says.
The line was established in 2012 and has since more than doubled to 24 departures a week with two ships.
The agreement is signed with Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals.
