Demand for sun trips during the autumn holidays has increased sharply. Sunweb's sales for week 44 are around 35 percent above last year's level and the charter operator's departures from Swedish airports are 99.9 percent sold out.

The Swedish autumn holidays continue to be a strong period for travel to warmer destinations. According to Sunweb, this year's demand is particularly high and there are now very few seats left on the company's departures from Sweden.

– Demand for autumn holiday travel has been exceptionally high. Our departures from Swedish airports are 99.9 percent sold out, but there are still seats available from Copenhagen, says Jan Lockhart, Nordic manager at Sunweb.

Copenhagen alternative for southern Swedes

According to Sunweb, there is still available capacity from Copenhagen Airport during the Swedish autumn holiday week.

One explanation is the difference between the Swedish and Danish school holidays. The Danish autumn holiday falls in week 42, while many Swedish schools have holidays in week 44.

This means that Copenhagen can serve as an alternative, especially for southern Swedish travelers, when departures from Swedish airports are fully booked.

Rhodes most popular

Rhodes is Sunweb's most popular destination among Swedish travelers during the autumn holidays, followed by Crete and southern Turkey.

For travelers still looking for a trip during week 44, Sunweb recommends flexibility regarding both departure day, trip length and destination. For southern Swedes, departures from Copenhagen can also increase the supply.
