Interest in traveling this fall is strong. According to the latest Sifo survey by travel agency Ticket, 34 percent of Swedes are planning to go on vacation – and most are attracted by weekend trips to big cities.
Autumn 2025 is marked by a clear desire to travel. According to the travel agency Tickets' Sifo survey, 34 percent of Swedes plan to travel abroad this autumn. The booking statistics also show the same positive trend – the number of booked city trips departing between October 1 and November 30 has increased by 54 percent compared to last year.
The survey shows that most people planning a trip abroad intend to be away for about one to two weeks. At the same time, interest in shorter holidays of up to a week is greater than during the winter. When it comes to choosing a trip, city weekends are the most attractive – more people choose them over sun and beach trips, which instead dominate during the winter season.
– Autumn is a perfect time to travel. Many people want to take a short break from everyday life and get away for a while. Weekend trips to European cities are perfect because they are affordable, require little planning and give those who want to experience a lot the chance to do so in just a few days, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and communications manager at Ticket.
For many, autumn is an opportunity to supplement the longer summer vacation with a shorter trip before winter sets in. Among the most booked city destinations are classics like London, Rome, Barcelona and Paris.
