The Freimarkt Bremen (Bremen Open Air Market) is one of Germany's oldest and largest folk festivals and invites you to unforgettable experiences from October 17 to November 2, 2025. A colorful mix of cool attractions, culinary festivities and traditional market attractions awaits you at the Bürgerweide (event area), right in the heart of the Hanseatic city.
With a history dating back to 1035, Bremen Free Market (Bremen Market) is a permanent fixture in the cultural life of the city on the Weser River and is even considered a fifth season. From roller coasters to medieval markets
Around 50 rides, including Ferris wheels and roller coasters, provide thrilling experiences this year, and visitors can also enjoy various exhibitors, local specialties and exciting events. In addition main market on Bürgerweide (event area) attracts the square in the inner city with historical stalls and nostalgic carousels. Between the town hall and the Liebfrauenkirche (church in Bremen) we are transported back in time by medieval market with old crafts and all kinds of delicacies from the wood-fired oven and reminds us of the beginning of the "free market".
The carnival procession
The traditional Freimarktsumzug (traditional market procession) on Saturday, October 25, 2025 is another highlight of the event. Magnificently decorated floats and musical groups will pull through the streets of Bremen, creating enthusiasm among the spectators who fill their bags with ”Bremer Bonschen” (sweets made in Bremen). The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. in Bremer Neustadt and from there it will travel to the main station via the square. At the finish line, the traditional award ceremony for the most beautiful and creative carriages will take place in the Bayernzelt (party tent) on the Bürgerweide (event area).
