Infrastructure Minister Andreas Carlson (KD) is on Gotland to discuss the high ferry prices. Together with Trafikverket's Director-General Roberto Maiorana and Destination Gotland's CEO Håkan Johansson, he is holding a press conference at the ferry terminal in Visby harbour.

Since 2017, a Gotland passenger ferry ticket has increased by 51 percent and for vehicles by 75 percent, according to Region Gotland's review.

– I have great respect that many Gotlanders perceive the prices as high, says the minister at the press conference, reports The whole of Gotland.

At the same time, a review carried out by Trafikverket shows that the average price for all tickets during 2024 was SEK 216 for Gotlanders, which is within the scope of the agreement.

– 82 percent of all Gotlanders who have travelled have paid under 300 SEK, says Trafikverket's Director-General Roberto Maiorana.

A working group will review the possibilities of including Destination Gotland in the Swedish tonnage tax system. He says this should be able to provide price reductions as early as 2026.

Tonnage tax means that income from qualified shipping activities is calculated on a flat-rate basis according to the cargo capacity of the vessels.

During the day, the minister will also meet Agneta Karlsson, who, together with Marlene Jakobsson, has collected nearly 12,000 signatures for lower ferry prices.
