After the weekend's train chaos, where half of all departures to and from Stockholm were canceled, traffic will run as usual on Monday morning, the Swedish Transport Administration promises.

Long-distance and regional trains, as well as commuter and freight trains, have been affected by delays and cancellations. The reason is that many employees at the Swedish Transport Administration have been on sick leave.

On Sunday afternoon, however, the situation looks brighter, and according to the Swedish Transport Administration, trains to and from Stockholm will run according to schedule on Monday morning.

”"We have significantly better conditions now than we had on Friday morning. We now have enough people to be able to operate full traffic around Stockholm and the Mälardalen region," says the Swedish Transport Administration's press officer Bengt Olsson to TT.

South of the country and especially in the coastal areas, the storm's ravages will affect train traffic at least until lunchtime on Monday.

”"This applies to smaller train routes in parts of Östergötland, Småland, Skåne and the west coast. The reason it is taking so long is because the tracks need to be visible in daylight before traffic can be allowed to pass," says Bengt Olsson.
