To make ticket purchasing and travel easier and more cost-effective for international tourists, three new tourist passes have been launched in South Korea. The tourist passes provide convenient access to public transportation as well as discounts on attractions, shopping opportunities and restaurants. The passes make it easier for travelers to experience South Korea’s culture and discover the country’s historical landmarks. The passes can be purchased individually or combined to maximize potential benefits.
Korea Tour Card – National tourist pass for easier travel and discounts
Korea Tour Card is designed to facilitate ticket purchases and travel for international tourists planning to travel throughout South Korea. With the tourist pass, users can easily pay for subways, buses, taxis, and AREX (the airport express train to Incheon International Airport). In addition, the card offers access to discounts at over 200 attractions, shopping opportunities, and restaurants nationwide. The Korea Tour Card is a physical card that can be purchased at Incheon International Airport, Tmoney-affiliated stores, and through vending machines at AREX stations. The card costs 4,000 KRW and can be loaded with up to 500,000 KRW.
BUSAN Pay – A regional card for tourists in Busan
Travelers to Busan can take advantage of new BUSAN Pay, the first regional tourist pass for foreign tourists in Busan. By downloading the BUSAN Pay app to a mobile phone and registering a prepaid card that can be picked up at tourist information centers or banks, travelers gain access to a digital guidebook, restaurant tips, and exclusive discounts. In the app, users can also purchase subway day passes and the popular Visit Busan Pass tourist card, opening up even more benefits and discount opportunities.
Climate Card Tourist Pass – The eco-friendly transportation pass for short-term travelers in Seoul
On July 1, 2024, the Seoul Metropolitan Government launched the new Climate Card Tourist Pass, an environmentally friendly transportation option for international tourists on short visits to Seoul. The new tourist passes offer unlimited access to Seoul’s local transportation at affordable prices. The tourist passes are offered in five variants: 1-day pass (5,000 KRW), 2-day pass (8,000 KRW), 3-day pass (10,000 KRW), 5-day pass (15,000 KRW), and 7-day pass (20,000 KRW). The tourist passes are physical cards that can be purchased at tourist information centers, convenience stores at subway stations, and at stations along subway lines 1, 8, and 9. The Climate Cart Tourism Pass can also be used for short-term rentals of Seoul’s popular city bicycles, the Ttareungi.
