Charter giant Ving, owned by Petter Stordalen and Harald Mix, among others, has been hit hard by the corona crisis, like the rest of the travel industry. Now the company's airline Sunclass Airlines is choosing to get rid of two long-haul flights to reduce costs, writes check-in.dk.

Charter company Ving had just been saved from bankruptcy when the corona crisis hit in full force. As part of reducing costs, the airline Sunclass Airlines, which like Ving is part of the Nordic Leisure Travel Group, has chosen to reduce its fleet by getting rid of two Airbus A330 aircraft. The two leased planes have been delivered back to the owner, according to the Danish industry website check-in.dk

Sunclass Airlines' acting CEO Torben Østergaard tells check-in.dk that the reduction in the fleet helps to meet the challenges facing the company, but that it will continue to be difficult to fill long-haul flights that carry up to 396 passengers.

Ving was acquired by Petter Stordalen, the venture capital firm Altor led by Harald Mix, and TDR Capital from bankrupt Thomas Cook last fall. However, operations have essentially ground to a halt in the past month due to the virus outbreak.
