Aircraft manufacturer Boeing has discovered new problems in the software of the accident model 737 Max. It is not yet clear whether the new information will affect Boeing's forecast that the plane will be back in service by mid-year, writes Bloomberg
Boeing's own engineers discovered the problem. According to Steve Dickson, who heads the US aviation safety authority FAA, the problem must be fixed before the flight ban is lifted. According to him, it is a warning system linked to the stabilization system that has not worked properly. Bloomberg writes that the authority is currently evaluating the extent of the problem.
It is not clear whether the new problems will affect Boeing's forecast that the 737 Max model will be back in service by mid-2020.
The aircraft model has been grounded since March 13 after two accidents that claimed a total of 346 lives.
Earlier on Thursday, Dallas Fed President Robert Kaplan stated that the production halt for Boeing's 737 Max could reduce US GDP growth by up to 0.4 percentage points in the first and second quarters.
Boeing's stock rose 3.5 percent just before 7 p.m. Swedish time. In addition to the news of the new error, Steve Dickson also announced that new test flights of the 737 Max could begin within a few weeks.
