When Finnlines expands its route network with a line to Świnoujście in Poland. The start of service is on April 10 and the route will be operated by the ro-pax vessel Finnfellow.
Finnfellow, which sails under the Swedish flag, has a capacity for 440 passengers and approximately 3,000 cargo meters for cars and goods. The ship is well-known to Malmö residents, as it has previously operated the Malmö–Travemünde route.
“Our new route benefits Swedish-Polish trade relations and expands Finnlines” operations outside Finland, as well as confirming Finnlines“ commitment to Polish security of supply by soon calling not only at the port of Gdynia but also at the port of Swinoujscie,” says Antonio Raimo, Line Manager, Finnlines. “We have also strengthened our organization on shore and opened an office in Świnoujście.”
Finnlines' new route to Poland means that Malmö will have a direct connection to a third European country, alongside the Öresund Bridge to Denmark and Finnlines' existing line to Germany. It will be a convenient route for travel to Poland and all of Eastern and Central Europe for both Malmö residents and travelers from large parts of the rest of Skåne and Sweden as well as Norway and Denmark.
“Finnlines has prepared the launch of a new route between Sweden and Poland carefully. We can offer spacious car decks for cars and freight. Both passengers and truck drivers get to their cabins quickly and easily, and the crossing will be calm and comfortable,” says Marco Palmu, Head of Finnlines Passenger Services.
”"The new connection complements existing ones and gives us new routes out into Europe. This strengthens Copenhagen Malmö Port's position as a hub in the Baltic Sea and Malmö's position in the heart of Northern Europe's largest labor market region," says Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh (S), Chair of the Malmö City Council.
Starting on April 10, there will be one daily departure in each direction, in the morning from Malmö and in the evening from Świnoujście. Finnfellow has over 180 cabins and passengers have access to a Finnish sauna, buffet restaurant, bar, children's play area and a shop. On the evening departure, it will be mandatory to book a cabin or berth. On the day departure, it is only mandatory to book a cabin for those traveling with animals.
