French engineering giant Alstom, which has a large presence in Sweden, has appointed Martin Sion as its new CEO, effective April 1, 2026. This is according to a press release.
He succeeds Henri Poupart-Lafarge, who has led the company since 2016 and had previously announced that he would not be seeking a new term. Alstom has had a mixed performance under Poupart-Lafarge's tenure, including following the troubled acquisition of Bombardier Transportation in 2021.
Sion most recently comes from the role of CEO of the space technology company Ariane Group, which is owned by Airbus and Safran.
