Another major snowstorm is heading towards New York. Around 30 million people are affected when up to half a meter of snow is expected.
More than 3,000 flights were canceled in the New York area on Sunday morning Swedish time in anticipation of the blizzard. Mayor Zohran Mamdani has warned that this could be more extensive and dangerous than the snowstorm that hit the city in January.
“Our focus will not be on physical infrastructure but on getting homeless New Yorkers under shelter,” says Mamdani.
The current weather conditions mean that wet and heavy snow is expected in combination with strong winds. Authorities fear disruptions to the power grid when power lines may fall. In the state of Connecticut, residents are advised to stay off the roads.
